In 2009, the Newspaper Licensing Agency (NLA) introduced licensing for aggregators and media monitoring firms that use content from the websites of NLA members. A lengthy legal battle ensued as Meltwater, supported by the PRCA, objected to the NLA's requirement for users of its monitoring service to buy a further license in order to use Internet links in their reports and referred the issue to the UK Copyright Tribunal.
