| Hello and welcome to our live online chat with the lovely Sadie Frost. She is here ready to answer your questions, so lets get going with the first one..... | |
| Sadie said: | Hi, I'm here this morning to answer some of your questions, so what do you have for me? |
| Lou wants to know: "You always seem to look so good - got any tips?" | |
| Sadie said: | Lots and lots of sleep! |
| bert wants to know: "What is your worst domestic habit?" | |
| Sadie said: | I never put the lids on anything, which drives everybody mad! |
| James1 wants to know: "What's it like launching your own fashion range? How's it all going?" | |
| Sadie said: | It started off as a hobby, but seems to have grown into a proper business now. We're selling to many major shops in lots of different countries, so things are going well, but it is a little stressful. |
| pip wants to know: "how long did it take you to set up your clothing range? Do you actually design the clothes?" | |
| Sadie said: | We started slowly about 5 years ago, I do design the collection with Jemima, but then she goes and does all the sourcing, and a lot of the hard work, but the ideas are definately a 50:50 split. |
| Amber wants to know: "How do you and Jude feel about being classed as one of Britains hottest couples?" | |
| Sadie said: | It can be a bit of a stigma, as your privacy is invaded and you're also aware that it can go against you if things turn around. |
| Billywhizz wants to know: "Who is your favourite designer at the moment?" | |
| Sadie said: | Are you a DJ by the way? To answer your question, I like Ghrani Strok, Stella McCartney, Dior, McQueen and a lot of smaller labels. |
| Paula wants to know: "hiya not a question just wanted to let u no that love honour and obey is my fave film ever i just love it watch it over n over thanks 4 making me smile paula" | |
| Sadie said: | Thanks Paula! |
| How do you see Tea as a style icon? | |
| Sadie said: | Tea can be considered a style icon, as it represents something very British and brings with it a lot of history. I know my next collection, for instance, and fashion show, has been inspired by tea. |
| will wants to know: "What are your plans following the birth? Any new projects coming up?" | |
| Sadie said: | It's all going to be slightly complicated, and not the idea situation. As soon as the baby's born, I have to travel to Romania, as Jude is doing his next movie there, which is a five month comittment. But once we've experienced the bonding process, I will be back to work doing pre-production for World of Tomorrow. |
| tallulah wants to know: "Any ideas for baby names? " | |
| Sadie said: | I want to keep the baby’s name a secret, because no matter what, people will slag off your choice. But I’d like to have a name that’s slightly unusual, like Rafferty, which we made up, something on the same theme… |
| mouse wants to know: "How on earth do you juggle such a busy life with having young children as well...not to mention expecting another? Do you have help?" | |
| Sadie said: | I’m very lucky because I’ve got a very supportive family. My younger sisters help with the children when I’m at work. I try to work a lot from home, and incorporate my children into my work life as much as I can as well. It’s very important for me to work as this makes me feel very fulfilled and then I can be happier when I’m with my children. |
| Jamie wants to know: "Hi Sadie, what actresses did you admire as you were growing up?" | |
| Sadie said: | I always liked the slightly off-beat actresses, the ones that I didn’t feel conformed to the Hollywood formula. I always liked Jennifer Jason-Leigh, and her choice of movies, and also Jessica Lange, they both have huge range and dignity. |
| Wendy wants to know: "Hi Sadie. What has been the most rewarding thing in your working life that you have achieved?" | |
| Sadie said: | Recently a lot of the work that I’ve been doing has been more directed towards producing. Last year I did a film in Slovakia for four months, playing a Jewish freedom fighter. I struck up a good relationship with the director, and he asked me to co-product a sci-fi film called World of Tomorrow. This is a very exciting prospect for me, and we have now signed Jude to play the lead male, and Gwyneth Paltrow to play the lead actress, and raised the finance, so this is the most exciting opportunity I’ve ever been given. |
| Sammy M wants to know: "Who makes the tea in your house, you or Jude?" | |
| Sadie said: | Actually the best cup of tea of the day for me is the one that my 11 year old son Finlay brings before he goes to school. I’ve got him well trained, not like Jude, who always seems to forget! |
| Jessica wants to know: "What qualities most attract you to someone?" | |
| Sadie said: | Honesty, loyalty and strength of mind. |
| Carol wants to know: "If you could be whisked away at a moments notice to any destination in the world – where would it be and why?" | |
| Sadie said: | There’s a lot of places I’d like to be whisked away to…..Jamaica for the ideal beach holiday, Vietnam and Cambodia for inspiration and culture, Iceland for adventure…Oh there’s too many! |
| Frankie wants to know: "Where is your most favorite nightspot in London?" | |
| Sadie said: | If I do go out, I’d go somewhere like Kaberet, because it’s intimate but lively. But a lot of the time I do stay in with a nice cup of tea, watching either Eastenders, nature programmes or sitting glued to E4. |
| Catlin wants to know: " Hi Sadie. I heard you were on the Morcambe and Wise show when you were younger – how did you get that job and how do you feel knowing that you performed on such a great British show? " | |
| Sadie said: | I was at Italia Conti stage school, and often they would cast whole classfulls of children to do TV shows, where we would sing and dance. Basically, rent a crowd, so I did a numerous amount of TV appearances. |
| Angie wants to know: "Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met and why?" | |
| Sadie said: | I worked with Harvey Keitel and I thought the prospect of meeting him would be pretty terrifying, but we got on like a house on fire. He’s a very deep and interesting person. |
| Sammy wants to know: "Do you think you could move to Hollywood as Jude’s career is really taking off there?" | |
| Sadie said: | I’ve always resisted going to Hollywood, as I’ve wanted to have a normal family life as possible. Jude’s career has taken off in the US, but most of the films he does aren’t actually based in California, and he only actually takes one movie a year, and the rest of the time he’s at home, so I think it’s best for us to be in the UK. |
| Liselle wants to know: "I love your clothes but never see anything on the racks that resemble them – where do you shop?" | |
| Sadie said: | I don’t really like shopping, but when I do go, I make it very short and sweet. I go to places that have a couple of shops grouped together, like Notting Hill, so I can pop into Matches, which does designer stuff, or Relics that does vintage. |
| Talia wants to know: "What beauty product could you not live without?" | |
| Sadie said: | I’ve got quite freckly skin, and I like to use Chanel Teint Fluide Universel Foundation, also a good moisturiser like Yonka is a must. |
| J wants to know: "How many cups of tea do you drink a day?" | |
| Sadie said: | Around 5 cups at the moment, but when I’m not pregnant, it could go up to about 10! Because my parents both come from Manchester, it’s quite normal to give babies tea in a bottle, so the comfort aspect of it is doubled. |
| Carol wants to know: "will transcripts be available? since I'm in America, the time difference makes it difficult to participate. thank you! " | |
| Sadie said: | You will be able to access the transcript once the chat has ended. |
| So how do you feel being pregnant again? | |
| Sadie said: | I always planned to have a large family, but I didn’t expect to be pregnant so soon after Iris. I think pregnancy is a wonderful thing, even though I feel pretty sick and grotty. I see it as climbing a mountain. It’s hard getting there, but when you reach the top you feel rewarded. |
| What do you consider to be your greatest achievement? | |
| Sadie said: | I’m quite hard on myself. I do feel that I’ve achieved quite a lot, but I’m not the kind of person that gives myself a pat on the back, so I couldn’t pick out one particular thing yet, as I still feel that there’s lots of things I want to do. |
| James1 wants to know: "Do you believe in the art of tea leaf reading? What did your last reading say? " | |
| Sadie said: | I’m open to a lot of things that determine the future, but also quite sceptical. I try to make my own decisions and be in control of my life without being influenced by other mediums. For example a long time ago, a tarot card reader freaked me out so much that when I was just about to board a flight to L.A, I panicked and had to get off. I felt completely stupid afterwards when the flight was OK, so made a decision not to be influenced too much. But if you’re curious, and want to have a bit of fun – visit www.astrotea.co.uk |
| Sasha wants to know: "How would you like to be remembered?" | |
| Sadie said: | I have no preconceptions of how I would expect people to feel about me and I know once you’re gone, you’re gone. I would just love to know that I lived on strongly in my children’s hearts, and that’s all that really matters to me. |
| I'm afraid that really is all we have time for! Thanks to everyone for joining us and sorry to those whose questions Sadie didn't have time to answer. Goodbye and take care!! | |
| Sadie said: | Thank you for your questions, it's good to chat over a cuppa! Love, Sadie |
