Monday 1st October is National Older Persons Day which aims to celebrate the achievements of older people and raise awareness of the issues that affect their lives.

Millions of us look forward to that time in our lives where retirement is upon us, and for many people it’s a time of enjoyment and happiness spent with our loved ones.

Retirement should always be a fun and relaxing time of your life. But how do you make the most out of it?

It’s important as we get older to engage in activities which keep us happy and healthy, and getting involved in these activities is also a great excuse to socialise. Here to discuss this and Abbeyfield’s annual Companionship at Christmas campaign, and to remind people about their wider calendar of fun activities and friendship they offer throughout the year, with everything from table tennis to learning computer skills from schoolchildren,  is Geoffrey Palmer. Log on if you want to hear more about how people can all get the most out of their retirement years
