Since the 1970s there has been a real increase in the overall levels of illicit drug use, particularly among young children. Major national surveys indicate that in England 20% of 11 to 15 year olds had used illicit drugs in 2001 and it is estimated that Class A drug use costs society and the economy between £10bn and £17.4bn a year. Among accidents involving fatalities, drugs have been found in 15-20% of riders and drivers. Professor Mike Kelly, Director of Evidence and Guidance and Dan Warm, Senior Research Specialist at the HDA joined us live online to answer all your questions about the findings, their recommendations, future work and other drug related concerns.
